The air quality in Indian cities remains a significant concern, with high levels of PM2.5 posing a threat to public health. Despite a marginal improvement in the annual average PM2.5 level in 2022, India continues to dominate the list of the most polluted cities in Central and South Asia.
Bhiwadi, the most polluted city in India, recorded PM2.5 levels of 92.7 μg/m3, while the majority of cities in the report exceeded the WHO guideline by at least seven times.
